Become A Member

If you’d like to apply for membership you can do so by filling out an Application for Membership and turning it in with the membership fee of $6.00 (fee is refunded if application is rejected). Paper Applications may be obtained by stopping in to the Fire Department and speaking to a member if any are available at the time, alternatively you may fill out and print an application here on the website.

Applications may be submitted in person at the Fire Department or by mail (if submitting by mail, please use caution with the membership fee, checks and money orders may be made payable to Hyde Vol. Fire Department). If you wish to drop off the application with the membership fee in person, a good time to do so would be shortly before our monthly meeting or during a regular event such as Bingo (dates and times of both may be found on the events calendar).

Membership Requirements

There are a few requirements for membership laid out in the Bylaws of the company these are as follows:

Active Members shall be residents of Hyde and vicinity residing within a Six (6) mile radius of the Hyde Volunteer Fire Company. Active Members must also be of good moral character and not less than eighteen (18) years of age.  

  1. The application will be presented at a regular company meeting, then turned over to the membership committee  
  2. The application will be acted upon at the next regular company meeting.  
  3. At the recommendation of the membership committee, if the applicant is a member in good standing of another fire company, the application can be voted on for probation at the first reading.
